Privacy Policy

The short version. Your file — every rating, percentage, effective date, dependent, deadline and claim you enter — is stored on your device and nowhere else. Emerit has no account, no login, and keeps no server copy of any of it.

The only information that ever leaves your phone is feedback you deliberately type and send. That is described in full below.

What stays on your device

Everything you enter about your claim is written to Emerit's private storage on your iPhone:

Condition names, disability percentages and effective dates
Who you support — spouse, children, dependent parents
Your answers to the Special Monthly Compensation questions
Deadlines you are tracking
The claim you are waiting on, its step, and your check-ins

None of it is transmitted anywhere. Emerit performs no network request to compute any figure — every calculation runs offline against rate tables built into the app. There is no sign-in because there is no account to sign in to, and there is no "sync" because there is no server holding a copy.

If you delete Emerit, that data is deleted with it. You can also erase it yourself at any time from Settings → Erase everything on this device, and you can export it to a file you control from Settings → Export a backup file.

The one exception: feedback you send

Emerit includes a feedback sheet, reached from Settings → "Tell me what's missing", from shaking your phone, or from a one-time prompt after you save your first rating. Nothing is sent unless you type a message and tap Send.

When you do send one, the following is transmitted to our feedback service at api.aiappnation.com:

The message you wrote, and an optional short summary
Your email address — only if you choose to type one, so we can tell you when the thing you reported is fixed. Leave it blank and we have no way to contact you.
The app version and build, your iOS version, your device model, and your locale
An anonymous identifier for your installation. It is not your Apple Account, not your phone number, and not linked to your name.
On bug reports only: a short excerpt of recent in-app log lines, to help us reproduce the problem

Those log lines never contain your claim data. Emerit deliberately logs non-identifying facts only — for example it records that a condition was saved and how many conditions your file now holds, never the name of a condition, its percentage, or its effective date. Your medical and disability information is not in them.

What Emerit does not do

No tracking. Emerit does not track you across apps or websites, and contains no advertising or analytics SDK.
No selling or sharing. We do not sell, rent or share your information with data brokers, advertisers, or anyone else.
No AI processing. Emerit sends nothing to any AI or language-model service. Every figure it produces is deterministic arithmetic against published federal rate tables.
No location, camera, microphone, contacts, photos or health data. Emerit does not request access to any of them.
No connection to the VA. Emerit cannot see your VA record and never contacts the VA on your behalf. When it shows your claim's step, it is showing what you told it.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, Emerit uses them to remind you before a deadline closes and to check in while a claim is pending. These are scheduled locally on your device. There is no push server, and no notification content leaves your phone.

Purchases

Emerit is free and sells nothing, so it handles no payments. Anything bought before it went free was processed by Apple; Emerit never saw your payment details.

How Apple describes what we collect

Emerit's privacy manifest declares three data types, all used solely for app functionality and none used for tracking:

Email address — only the optional one you may type into the feedback sheet
User ID — the anonymous installation identifier attached to feedback
Other user content — the text of the feedback you write

All three exist only because the feedback sheet exists. If you never send feedback, Emerit collects nothing at all.

Retention and your choices

Feedback you send is kept while we act on it and to answer you. To have a submission and any email address you gave us deleted, write to us and we will remove it.

Your on-device file is under your control entirely: export it, import it, or erase it from Settings at any time.

Children

Emerit is intended for veterans and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what leaves your device, we will update this page and the date at the top of it.
